Thermal Runaway

A self-sustaining exothermic reaction inside a lithium-ion cell that can propagate to neighbouring cells, releasing toxic gas and fire. Triggered by internal short, overcharge, mechanical damage or coolant loss. EV packs include venting, firewalls and isolation strategies to delay propagation.
