Why does the exact Tesla alert ID matter?
Record the exact alert ID, including underscores, suffixes, and companion alerts. Tesla alerts that look similar can point to different modules, timestamps, and service procedures.
What does BMS-F066 mean?
Tesla fault code in the Battery Management System (BMS) module. The Battery Management System (BMS) has detected that there is a high brick resistance. If this alert is present, there may have been a bad module installed into the vehicle upon replacement. There may be lost cell connections and/or uneven cell impedance aging.
Original Description
The Battery Management System (BMS) has detected that there is a high brick resistance. If this alert is present, there may have been a bad module installed into the vehicle upon replacement. There may be lost cell connections and/or uneven cell impedance aging.
Affected Tesla Models
What You May Notice
- Noticeably reduced driving range compared to when the vehicle was new
- Slower DC fast charging speeds than expected
- Range estimate may be inaccurate due to high internal resistance
How to Diagnose and Resolve
- 1 Check battery age and mileage โ high impedance is normal with age but accelerated aging may indicate a fault
- 2 Perform a full charge to 100% and note actual kWh delivered
- 3 Avoid frequent DC fast charging โ it accelerates cell impedance aging
- 4 Schedule a Tesla Service appointment for battery impedance testing
- 5 Technician will identify whether the issue is limited to specific modules or affects the whole pack
Severity Notes
BMS-F066 is classified as a Fault, indicating a critical issue in the Battery Management System system. Do not continue driving and contact Tesla Service immediately.
