Why does the exact Tesla alert ID matter?
Record the exact alert ID, including underscores, suffixes, and companion alerts. Tesla alerts that look similar can point to different modules, timestamps, and service procedures.
What does BMS-U024 mean?
Tesla unknown code in the Battery Management System (BMS) module. "Uncorking" 75D vehicles means a couple of things: Increasing the motor torque.Increasing the maximum discharge current allowed for the high voltage (HV) battery. Some early 75kwh HV batteries were built with a shunt that had a hardware over current (HWOC) threshold which could trigger false HWOCs during a wide open throttle event due to ripple current that could cause the current to go over the uncorked current. In this case, the Battery Management System (BMS) will report the alert BMS_u024_Not_Uncorked_Capable? to let the customer and Service know that the vehicle is uncorked with a non-suitable HV battery. The current limit will not be increased, and the vehicle will not have uncorked performance.

Affected Tesla Models
What You May Notice
- BMS-U024 may appear with another Tesla alert in the Battery Management System (BMS) system.
- The vehicle may limit charging, driving, comfort, or safety features depending on the active alerts.
- The alert may clear after sleep, but recurring alerts should be treated as service-relevant.
How to Diagnose and Resolve
- 1 Reboot the vehicle (hold both scroll wheels for 10 seconds)
- 2 Check the Tesla app for any pending software updates
- 3 Monitor the alert over 1โ2 charge cycles; schedule service if it recurs
Severity Notes
BMS-U024 is a diagnostic or informational code in the Battery Management System system. Typically no immediate action is required.
