Also written as DI_F126 / DI F126 / DI_f126_limpMode / di_f126_limpmode
Why does the exact Tesla alert ID matter?
Record the exact alert ID, including underscores, suffixes, and companion alerts. Tesla alerts that look similar can point to different modules, timestamps, and service procedures.
What does DI-F126 mean?
Tesla fault code in the Drive Inverter (DI) module. The motor controller shall assert this condition whenever any of the following alerts are present:Phase Current ImbalanceBus Voltage Sensor IrrationalNo Functional Stator Temperature SensorsNo Functional Isolated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) Heatsink Temperature SensorsNo Fluid in IGBT Heatsink12V Supply UndervoltageBattery Management System (BMS) is missing (MIA)Low Fluid Flow This condition will also occur whenever any of the temperatures listed below exceed their Limp thresholds for the specified time:Outlet fluid (2 seconds)Internal ambient (2 seconds)

Affected Tesla Models
What You May Notice
- drive inverter critical fault: The motor controller shall assert this condition whenever any of the following alerts are present:Phase Current Imbalanc
- Vehicle enters reduced power or limp mode; acceleration severely limited
- Red warning on dashboard โ vehicle may not allow driving
How to Diagnose and Resolve
- 1 Safely pull over and stop the vehicle
- 2 Attempt a full reboot: hold both scroll wheels until the Tesla logo appears
- 3 If power is not restored after reboot (fault: "The motor controller shall assert this condition w"), call Tesla Roadside Assistance
- 4 The inverter or motor controller will require inspection at a Service Center
Severity Notes
DI-F126 is classified as a Fault, indicating a critical issue in the Drive Inverter system. Do not continue driving and contact Tesla Service immediately.
